Today on our blog, we are thrilled to be spotlighting Rochel Ferman, one of Los Angeles' top mommy consultants, who also happens to be one of our favorite contributors to our blog. Through her company Make My Baby Smile, she provides moms with age-appropriate day and nighttime routines, techniques, and tips to help babies thrive. We love her and we love her gorgeous little girls!

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself. Where are you from, when did you start your family, etc…?

I am from Pittsburgh, PA. I have also lived in Wisconsin, London, and New York City. After my now husband got transferred from NYC to LA, we moved to LA together and got married a year later when I was 26. We began our family with our fist little girl, Jordana, when I was 29 years old and our second little girl, Ariella, when I was 31. My family is my life. There is nothing more rewarding than being a wife and mother, its such a special thing. I always tell me girls, just remember to smile and have fun everyday of your life!  Life is fun, we just need to stop and enjoy what we have :).

2. What were your new mom must-haves?

Summer swaddle me, Miracle blanket, Aden and Anais muslin blankets, Lovey, pacifiers.

3. What was the best part about being a new mom, for you?

The best part is experiencing the unconditional love, it is so special.

4. What was the hardest part about being a new mom?

The hardest part of adjusting to motherhood is finding new mommy friends, it's like dating but harder!

5. Anything that really took you by surprise?

To be honest, there isn’t much that took me by surprise. I just take one day at a time and enjoy each moment.

6. What is/was your most trusted resource?

My instinct as a mother is a my most trusted resource. If I think something is up with my kid, chances are there is something up with them.

7. Are there any key pieces of advice you would pass on to new moms?

Motherhood is hard. Everyone tries to make it sound glamorous, but its hard work. Breastfeeding, night feedings, functioning on minimal sleep the first few months. Working so hard as a mother to be attentive and patient with your children. It's all hard, but it is all worth it. What comes from it is priceless. The love you feel for your children is like no other love. Its such an amazing thing to experience in life, so just enjoy the tears and the smiles as they come; just take one day at a time.
