The Race To Save Charlotte & Gwenyth Gray

Posted on

It truly is every parent's worst nightmare. Can you imagine being told that your 4 year-old daughter has an incurable, fatal brain disease, and then learning, soon after, that your 2 year-old will suffer the same fate?

That’s what happened to Hollywood producer Gordon Gray and his wife Kristen Gray when their two daughters, Charlotte and Gwenyth, were diagnosed with Batten disease, a rare condition that slowly renders its young victims blind, immobile, and cognitively impaired before eventually leading to death sometime between the ages of 6 and 12. The specific variant of the disease with which both children were diagnosed is especially rare, meaning that there is little known about the disease outside of its devastating effects.

The two heartbroken parents immediately launched The Gray Foundation to raise the $12M they were told it will take to investigate three potential treatments for their girls. Celebrities like Jessica Alba, Channing Tatum and Lena Dunham have rallied around the cause, asking their followers to donate at least $1 each to help save the Grays and other children suffering from the disease. It’s an amazing start, but there’s still a long way to go before Batten is cured - and the Grays are racing a clock. You can help them and others affected by donating towards the crucial research needed here. Together, we can give these beautiful girls and their loving parents hope while saving other families from fighting this difficult fight in the future.
